At 2by4 Creations we pride ourselves on building quality, reasonably priced stairs from your property down small to large embankments to the beach or other areas.
We use pressure treated lumber, high quality anchor posts and high quality deck screws*. We never use concrete for support post anchoring as in our experience we have found for these types of stairs it simply isn't practical. Over time embankments shift from erosion, by using metal post spikes it allows some of the shifting to be continually be corrected whereas with concrete it is more "permanent" therefore not a practical option.
Under certain circumstances patio stones with deck blocks may be recommended in lieu or in conjunction with metal post spikes.
